Very Compressed Version!

Day time footage

This bit is one of my favourite bits as you can see it's matching up very well and almost cancelling each other out.

Display tests

I decided to go for the last idea as it seemed to have less disadvantages. I found that the "window" idea from earlier didn't look as good as I thought it would so I haven't taken that idea any further.
This is the screen shot of the daytime video, I really like the way this one has turned out. When the videos line up, and you get that split second of things disappearing it looks awesome!

This is the night time one, I'm not so keen on this one, the difference blending layer didn't work as well as it did on the day time one. I decided to experiment with the different layering options, and I couldn't get the effect I was looking for, the nearest to it was the overlay blend option, although this still did not give the desired effect. This is a shot of the overlay blend layer, as you can see, it doesn't have the same effect as the difference command.

Display Ideas

This idea involves having a composite film in the centre of the display showing 2 videos together at each time. Around the outside there would be 8 video clips, and each clip that was not being shown would be grayed out. This would move around the outside gradually getting through the journey showing different composites.

The good points about this are:
-all the video, both day and night, can be seen on the same layout.
-the sound for it would work well as there will only be one composite showing at one time.

The problems with this are:
-the main composite, being the main piece of work would end up being relatively small.
-upon experiments I have found that the day and night time don't mix well together using a difference blending mode, so I would not be able to mix them, leaving this idea more redundant than the others.

This idea involves having 4 day videos at the top, 4 night videos at the bottom, and 2 composites, one day and one night, in the middle.

the good points are:
-all the videos can be seen at the same time, both day and night.
-each set is separated and therefore can be shown more effectively.
-the composites would have more space and therefore could be bigger than in idea one.

the disadvantages are:
-the sound, it would make it confusing as two sets of sound would be playing, one for each composite.

This idea involves having two separate files for each set of videos. The composite would be the main attraction of the display, having the other videos at the bottom to be able to be referred to and compare against the composite.

Advantages:
-bigger composite
-sound can be easily distinguished for each set, as they would be separated.

Disadvantages:
-the project would be split into two different files.

Difference Layer Tests

This is a screen shot of 5 layers of video using the difference command.
It doesn't really give the effect I'm looking for, so I've decided to experiment with only using 2 video layers at once as this seems to work much better.

Commands in Premiere that I always lose!

More for my reference, for where to find the cropping command:

Effects> Video Effects> Transform> Crop

Track Mattes:

Effects> Video Effects> Keying> Track Matte Key

Very useful commands!

Second Render Done

This is similar to the other render except it allows you to see all of the videos instead of just a portion.
